Today our blog post is going to cover a few essential scents and what they can provide to your life in regards to health benefits, that way you know exactly which essential oils you should be investing in.

Peppermint

An incredibly popular smell because of its refreshing qualities, but now it is also one of the must haves in regards to essential oils and healing qualities. For some reason, so many people are surprised that this refreshing herb is now one of the most popular oils to have, but when you think of it, it is often mixed into so many of our everyday household products. Consider your toothpaste, shampoo, body wash, and mouthwash. While it may not seem like it, there definitely was some thought process behind including it as an ingredient.

Peppermint oil is often used because it is an antiviral, antimicrobial, antifungal, antioxidant, antispasmodic, and an overall stimulant. It is most commonly suggested when individuals are dealing with headaches. Rubbing a little bit of diluted peppermint oil on your temples has shown to reduce the discomfort and longevity of headaches, which is fantastic!

Aside from all of the benefits that we’ve listed above, peppermint oil is also used to reduce nausea, numb pain (when directly applied to an area), refresh, enhance concentration levels and memory ability, and so much more. When combined with other essential oils, you can enjoy even more benefits!

Lavender

Now, lavender is not only one of the most popular essential oils, but it is also an incredibly popular scent in general. Even though it is incredibly common and heard of often, it’s impossible to deny how beneficial this oil is.

The first point that we need to make with lavender is that the specific type of lavendar used for essential oils is a specific breed that is known for the beneficial properties it has. This specific species is known for being: a sedative, anti-anxiety, antimicrobial, antioxidant, antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory, anesthetic, antiviral and an overall boost for your immune system.

The best way to go about using lavender essential oils is to dilute it with several drops of water. Because of the various ingredients in lavender, it can become a powerful and overwhelming scent to some people. The best way to make the most of this scent is by diluting it and then placing it on your skin, just to be safe.

Sweet Orange

Another extremely popular essential oil is the scent of the sweet, sweet orange. If you are a fan of maintaining a clean, and refreshing home, then you will be a huge fan of this refreshing and vitalizing scent. There are so many different uses that people take into account with this specific essential oil.

Sweet orange essential oils are used to: reduce anxiety, improve mood, energize, while also reducing stress levels. This is a really great essential oils to have because it is a classic, that smells incredible, while also improving so many of the things that we deal with on a day-to-day basis. If you have a highly stressful job, or are dealing with high amounts of anxiety, this might be the essential oil that you need to start making some serious changes in your life.

As you do go to purchase your essential oils, always check to make sure that you’re selecting a sweet orange, and not the bitter orange. While they definitely smell noticeably different, they’ll also provide you with different health benefits.

Tea Tree

The last essential oil that we’re going to cover today is tea tree oil. This is a favorite, and while not one of the ones that is added into our 3 pack of essential oils, it is in a few of our other essential oil packages. This tree grows primarily in Australia, and because of its abundance has so many different uses.

This oil specifically is known to benefit coughs, heal wounds, minimize discomfort from sore throats, help with any ailments of the skin, and get people through a bad cold. As if that wasn’t enough, it is also an antiviral and an anti-inflammatory. But, even more impressive, this specific tree has shown a correlation to anticancer properties.

Your use for this specific essential oil will differ, though it’s always good to remember to dilute your essential oils if you are going to be applying them to your skin.

If you think that we’ve hit the maximum amount of healing abilities that an essential oil can have, we haven’t! Tea tree oil is also used for acne. This has a lot of the same qualities as many skin care products, and while it may take longer to see the benefits, it’s much more gentle on the skin and provides long term results. Trial and error is something that you can almost guarantee to happen with essential oils, but can also be minimized by diluting the water initially, and then adding drops as needed.
